Wall Panels

Inspired by the shifting desert dunes, the wall captures movement as a frozen moment shaped by wind and time.

The idea for this wall comes from sand dunes. They are always changing, shaped by wind, yet we remember them as stable forms. This contrast inspired the design—how to capture movement without actual motion, and how to freeze a moment while keeping a sense of flow. Instead of copying dunes directly, the design translates their behavior into a system, using natural logic rather than literal shapes. The wall is not sculpted by hand but generated through a parametric process. Flow directions and variations are controlled digitally, creating a surface where depth and curves come from data.

The design is divided into nine panels to make it buildable. Each panel follows the same system but has slight differences, creating a balance between unity and individuality. Together, they form one continuous landscape, while each piece still feels unique.

A key question in the project was whether the wall should be perfectly precise or keep some natural irregularity. Too much precision makes it feel mechanical, while too much randomness breaks the overall form.

Another decision was whether to hide or show the fabrication process.3D printing is not just a production method but part of the design itself.

The layer lines are kept visible, becoming a texture that shows how the piece was made.

Each panel is printed separately, making the wall easier to produce, transport, and install.

The finished wall changes depending on how it is seen. Light moves across the surface, creating a sense of motion. From a distance, it looks continuous; up close, the details of its making become clear. It is more than a wall—it is a surface that interacts with light and space, raising a simple question: can something still feel alive even when it stands still?

Modular Installation System

The wall is designed for easy installation through a detachable backing system. Each of the nine panels is lightweight and modular, allowing them to be mounted individually without complex tools or heavy equipment. The rear structure is pre-designed for straightforward fixing to standard wall surfaces, making alignment simple and efficient. This system not only speeds up installation but also allows for easy removal, replacement, or repositioning of individual panels if needed.
